In 1988 I started as a general assignment reporter in the Greenfield bureau of what was then the Springfield Union-News and Sunday Republican. The next year I transferred to the Northampton Bureau where I covered town politics and wrote business and general interest features. I left the paper for grad school and returned in 1994 to the Springfield office where I wrote for the Living Section before taking a job directing a study abroad program in Kenya.
When my family moved back to the United States I contributed articles as a freelancer from 1998 to 1999. Links to some of those clips appear below.
